The African American Studies Program at Merritt College

 

Jason Seals, author of The Art of Being a Black Man and His Health Training Manual, is an instructor of African American Studies at Merritt College in Oakland, California. As an instructor, Jason Seals is responsible for developing curriculum for the program’s courses, specifically The African American Family in the U.S., Racism in the United States, African American History 1865-1945, The Social Psychology of Black Male and Female Relationships, and The Roots of African American Culture.

The African-American Studies (AFRAM) program at Merritt College focuses on guiding students on a path of consciousness and providing them with an education that enables them to improve their lives and liberate their communities. The program aims to provide students with tools of analysis, factual information, and favorable attitudes toward the African-American community’s struggle in liberation from oppression, racism, and poverty.
